summer song blankets for kim

This is the softest baby blanket ever.

I told my husband that if this blanket is not Kim's baby girl's favorite blanket, I will gladly accept the return and it can be my favorite blanket.

It is made with Riley Blake's Summer Song in flannel.

Such beautiful colors, and so so cozy.

It's about 40x40- perfect for those first few months of swaddling.

And little blankies to match!

I am in love with this fabric collection! My mom and I were dying when it came out, we really wanted to make something with it, but with both of our stashes so full- we gloomily let it go.

So imagine my excitement when Summer Song was Kim's choice for all the gorgeous projects I am making for her soon to be here baby girl!

I made her a quilt using the entire line- that tall stack of fat quarters sat on my shelf like candy until we agreed on a pattern. It is currently at the quilters and we be done mid January.

I also made this cute little set of a "taggie" blankie and a rattle block.

She also purchased this adorable wall art that I made- it matches perfectly!

(I can't wait to see the whole nursery put together!)

This was the first mobile I made, and recently (tonight) I realized that I've never posted it.

One of the first things I made once I learned to machine embroider were some Christmas Tea Towels for my mom and aunt.

So I brought them back this year...

A much improved gingerbread man- puffy paint was the secret weapon. Yes. Puffy Paint.

I heart him.

My fav again is the snowman. Dunno why- seeing as I hate snow.

skeleton costume in action!

You remember this awesome little costume I made a year ago, right?

Well, I pretty much made my BFF Nan use it for her baby boy Van for his first Halloween costume. He was born in August- so perfect timing to fit into this 0-3 month costume!

He is such a little sweetheart!

Can't sit up yet- so we leaned him up against the tree...

And he kept getting distracted by all the rustling leaves up above.

Love him!!

beth's wedding quilt

One of my BFF's- Beth, is getting married on the beach in Oregon here pretty quick- so I made her a throw in her wedding colors.

Even though it was hard to find these two colors in enough fabrics to make a whole quilt- I love what I found and how they compliment each other!

I just love custom embroidered quilt labels!

quilt for baby van

I had a hard time tracking down this Neptune jellyroll...

I decided I was going to make a quilt for Van before I even knew he was a boy. I found some anchor patterned fabric on sale at one of my fav quilt shops- secretly hoping that Nan would be having a boy so I could use it.

As soon as the ultrasound came in- I went out and picked up a whole bunch of red, white and blue nautical themed fabric for the quilt. I was planning on making custom embroidery blocks of pirate ships.

After making the first one, I decided I hated it. So I scratched that idea and went with something else. I looked closer at the anchor fabric and found the name- Neptune. So I searched high and low for pieces of the collection, seeing as how it was out of print. I found a jelly roll, and that's it.

And the finished quilt!

I went with traditional tattoo style embroidered blocks, specialized for little Van.

One pirate ship did make the cut...

I had just enough of the jellyroll strips left to make the binding.

And a sweet little label so he always knows just how much his auntie loves him!

timber throw

As I walked into Elaine's, one of my fav quilt shops- this collection of fabrics caught my eye.

Actually, it screamed my name and demanded that I buy all of it. I didn't. For awhile. Then I gave in and decided to make a throw with my new found obsession.

All cut out and ready to go!

It's called Timber.

And Holly, the very talented quilter at Elaine's- quilted paisleys in it for me. Man, she is amazing!

I love snuggling up with it as I sit in my comfy chair blogging- and so do my kitties!

Don't mind the wrinkles!

I wanted it to be wider than the pattern called for- so I made it wider. But I forgot to also make it longer. So it's kinda short- but whatev's! It's my first solo quilt, I'm allowed a mistake or 2!
